Birthday This Quater
2 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

21 June 2008 saw the 2 year anniversary of the Organisation. A small celebration was held and a day out, hopefully to the beach, has been promised for the not too distant future.
So much seems to have already happened during these first 2 years, from the earthquake to the first children moving in to the Refuge Home.
The Refuge Home has been running for just over a year now. The seven original children have fully settled in, and we have just welcomed four more during the last few weeks. Another four are expected to arrive within the next couple of weeks, which will bring the total to 15.
We said a fond farewell to Mas Warto (JoJo) who had been placed at the Home temporarily for a 3 month period, at the request of Social Services and a local Social Organisation called Yayasan Kakak. He has now been reunited with his family and we wish him all the very best for the future.

2nd Quarter 2008
There were quite a few birthday celebrations during the quarter. Very best wishes and many happy returns to:Mas Widoyo,
Mbak Nita, Mas Ngatno Mbak Lilis, Mbak Dhani
and Bu Sartini.

The French Connection
One day, a couple of French people arrived in Solo. Maite and Fabian were in Solo for a few months as part of their University courses. Having been introduced to Yayasan Gunungan they asked if the children might enjoy a day making French crepes. So a following Sunday was dedicated to cooking and eating pancakes.
This was an excellent day enjoyed by everyone. The kids got to toss their own crepes trying not to drop them on the floor or stick to the ceiling.

There was a wide range of fillings to choose from including tuna, salad, cheese, chocolate sauce & sprinklings, banana, whipped cream, and lashings of chili sauce - delicious!.
